Mercy Regional EMS

Curtis Lewis is a paramedic who has proudly served with Mercy Regional EMS since 2016. Curtis’s passion for EMS was inspired by his father, who was an EMT. Seeing the impact his dad made in the community motivated Curtis to follow in his footsteps.

The best advice Curtis has received in the field is from his Paramedic Preceptor: to never stop at ‘good enough’.

“Patient care isn’t a place for shortcuts,” Curtis said. “You either give your best, or you’re not giving enough.”

Curtis’ favorite part about working at Mercy is the people he serves alongside – both within and outside of the organization.

One of his most memorable calls took place in a very rural area, where a patient got into an accident that left them trapped in their car. It took the help of dispatch, local fire crews and law enforcement to cut the patient free and get them to a helicopter to be transported to a trauma center. Curtis said that the experience was a reminder of how important teamwork is, and how much the teams depend on each other.

“The crew members, the firefighters and law enforcement I work with are second to none, and the community we serve makes it worth it,” Curtis said.

We are incredibly grateful for Curtis’s years of service and dedication at Mercy, and are proud to have him on our team.
